  1. Hi Carrie,

I would love to be entered in the giveaway. Thank you for your generosity.

Yes, I do set up a nativity set for Christmas. I actually leave the set out for the rest of the year, but it receives extra sprucing up with garlands and other things during the Christmas month. I also have a set of blown glass ornaments that are nativity-themed.

  2. I'll answer for TWO QUESTIONS! I collect nativity sets, and so of course I set them up. In fact, when I was teaching, our high school library had a Christmas display with Kwanza, Hannukah, and Santa, but no nativity. I nicely offered to buy one to be displayed, and they allowed it! It looked so beautiful under that tree!

Luke 2 is my favorite Christmas story.

  4. OOOPS! I got so excited about your blog, I forgot to ask you to please enter me in your drawing. I am trying to count how many nativity sets I put out at Christmas, and although I can't compare to yours, I know I display at least five sets and there are many nativity ornaments on my tree. laurie

  6. Yes, we have two nativity sets that we set out. My absolute favorite one is a Hummel set. My husband bought me Mary and Baby Jesus for our son's first Christmas 41 years ago. He has added to it over the years as he could afford to do so. It is just beautiful and I cherish it for the memories; in addition, to what the Nativity means. Sally

  8. Oh, what special giveaway items! I came over here from your comment on Decor to Adore.

My current favorite Scripture about the birth of our Savior is Isaiah 9:6, "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

  9. thank you for offering your giveaway. I pick question #1. yes i do have a Nativity Scene that I put out. Its very special to me because I bought it when our 5 children were very little. I didnt have alot of money so i bought a really cheapy set from Target I believe. BUT..its remained with me for nearly 25-30 years. About 10 or so years ago--I added the wooden creche. i get alot of compliments on it--people dont realize how old or how inexpensive it was. this year I bought a one piece wooden figuring that has the baby jesus and mary and joseph together--its a real neat looking piece!

  10. Thanks so much for stopping by to let me know about your give-away! I will post something on my blog directing people over to enter. The plate is beautiful. I have a nativity that I use every year (I think every home should have at least 1), and I'm kind of upset, to tell you the truth, b/c we have a tv above our fireplace & we always had it on our mantel until we moved here. I think b/c of space, I'm going to have to put it in my dining room this year, which I don't really like b/c I don't go in there everyday. I also have a nativity globe & ornament. I also collect angels, but I'll post those closer to Valentine's Day! Have a happy Thanksgiving!

Yes, yes, yes, I love collecting nativities! I usually decorate inside and out for Christmas. I love this time of year and the spirit of giving. 16. Thank you for inviting me to participate in your giveaway! Yes, please enter me! I also collect nativity sets...I have a ceramic set, 48 years old from when I was first married. I leave my Fontaniniset (Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus) out all year and I want to add more pieces to the set whenever I can find them. I just bought a Gobel one piece nativity this week and I have several that I found at yard sales and flea markets. I set them all up around the base of my christmas tree.
I really have enjoyed seeing all of your collection - they are lovely! Thanks again.

  18. Thanks for letting me know about this giveaway; you know how I loved those blue plates!
I have 2 nativities; one is very tiny with figures less than 2 inches, and I set that up under a vintage table tree each year. The proportions are just perfect. The other my mother bought in the late 50s and is a pretty traditional type. I like the star and angels that came with it because they are made of some kind of gauzy stuff. I should get more shepherds and animals for it, but until I visited your blog I never knew I could get single figurines.
    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  19. Hi, Carrie!

Thank you for the invitation to participate in your giveaway! That's really sweet.

I'll answer question 1. Yes, I have a Nativity scene. A couple actually. 2 years ago, I decided not to put up a tree because I just didn't have the energy (I didn't know it yet, but I was pregnant so that explains that - lol). I did, however, put up my 2 Nativity scenes. Both of them have several pieces so I wound some garland and red lights around the pieces. It was so beautiful - as if the Christ child were being born nestled in the arms of a cozy pine forest.

Last year was my child's first Christmas. However, I heard from a friend that there was a family with 3 little girls ages 4 to 12 who could not afford a Christmas tree. So I gave them ours. (It was a large fake tree and I wanted a new one anyway, so it wasn't as big of a sacrifice as it sounds - lol.) That year I also just put up the Nativities and some garland. I figured that embodied the spirit of the season more than any tree.

I suppose I had better get on up to Hobby Lobby this week and get a tree; since the baby is old enough now to enjoy one. But the centerpiece of my Christmas decorating will still be our Nativities.

  22. Good morning Carrie... thanks for letting me know of your new blog... what a nice give-away, I love that blue Christmas plate.... now, to answer one of your questions, I'm choosing my fav Bible verse about the Nativity:

"And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"....(Luke 2:6-14)

If we could only understand, really understand the significance of this verse, I’m sure our live will be different today…

    Hugs

  31. That plate is beautiful! I just found your blog the other day (I was looking for a Ted Naos paper nativity and your blog link came up). I love it! I collect Nativities. I have around 50+ that we put out at Christmas. I like to try to keep the focus on the birth of the Christ Child, rather than Santa and trees etc. I am obviously too late for the drawing, since I only found this page this morning. What a cool thing to do a drawing. Wow!

  32. Hi, I'm glad I have found your blog! I'd like to enter. I'll answer the first question. I have several Nativities. One began with a few pieces that I made while I lived at home. It was a ceramic set, but, for many years, I didn't have the whole set. Then one day I was out Garage Saling, and came across the exact Identical set with all the pieces! So, I grabbed that up and now, I set it up every year! It's huge, so I have to set the wise men on a shelf completely away from the manger scene. Then, I have another set that I put up along the windowsill in our dining room. I have one under the Christmas Tree. One on the shelving by our television, and one under the kitchen clock in the kitchen. I love the Nativity!
I also, love Luke 2, my favorite Christmas passages! Have a great week & thank you for giving us this opportunity! May you be blessed!
