Carved Wood Plaque

Show and Tell

The item for today’s show and tell is a wood plaque of the nativity. It is made of natural wood which remains unvarnished or stained. The size is 11 ¾" T x 23 ½" W. It hangs on the wall from a notch on the back.

It shows the family, Mary, Baby Jesus and Joseph in the stable surrounded with stored goods.

The simple treatment of the wood gives a sense of serenity and grace. It is very effective treatment of the subject.

Thanks for stopping by today. Visit more Show and Tell at Kelli’s house.

  10. Hi Carrie -

This plaque is wonderful - is there a special story behind this? Did someone make it for you, or did you hire someone to make it?

Its beautiful in its simplicity - after all the manger was made of wood!

    Thanks for sharing!

  11. Barb,
I won the plaque on eBay in fall 2003. Its size of 11 ¾" T x 23 ½" W makes a very substantial piece. My winning bid was just $14.99. I was unable to get any other information back then except that the carving was made in the U.S.A. It is signed "PS VIII 2000."
