It's time for a second Holiday Giveaway from Carola Nativity Gallery blog. At the hospital thrift shop I found a small nativity scene which will be the first item in this giveaway.
1. A ‘vintage’ white ceramic nativity scene. I have a similar set made for me by my secretary’s mother in 1994. The person who made this set used a greenish glaze on the white ceramic. The 15-piece set includes
Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus
Three Wise Men
Angel
Two Shepherds
1 Donkey
1 Ox
2 Sheep
2 Camels
The second item is another collector's plate from a series based on the stained glass windows at Chartres Cathedral.
2. Christmas plate from France - part of the "Noel Vitrail" series by D'Arceau Limoges. 1979 L'Adoration Des Rois (The Adoration of Kings). It is in original packaging with certificate.
This Holiday Giveaway is open to any blogger from one of the lower forty-eight United States.

Dear Carrie: I'm so happy to participate in your second giveaway as I missed out on the first. In response to question 1. I display several Nativity sets on our dining table- usually starting the day after Thanksgiving for all family and guests to enjoy. Comments on the display and the joy it brings to family and friends keep the tradition going.

I really don't collect any ornies but my mother collects birds and has very many on her tree.I give her a different one every year.
ReplyDeleteHi Carrie,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely set!
I am definitely a Christmas ornaments collection, mainly blown glass. I usually only do blown glass balls on the Christmas tree (I had posted a picture on my blog). The other blown glass ornaments I have include a holy family, three wise men, some Christmas trees, snowmen, teddy bears... but so far, I haven't had any angels.
Thanks for the opportunity to enter the giveaway.
THanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteAs you saw, I love nativity sets too, but my favourite is probably the one I blogged about today - the wooden pyramid one from Austria with the candles. As a family, we light one candle each Sunday of Advent, and then light them all on Christmas Eve and sing carols.
I will answer Question number 1. I set up several Nativity pieces during the Christmas holiday. Since I truly believe that Jesus is the Reason for the Season, I want to express that. I find that my little grand daughter seems to enjoy one Nativity in particular that I have. It is a muscical fountian and music plays while water flows down over the "hill" by the manger scene. She seems to remember it and ask to see it each year since she was a small toddler.
ReplyDeleteI set up a Nativity scene every year but leave the manger empty until Christmas Day. "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you: Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger." Luke 2:11-12
ReplyDeleteYes, I collect Nativities too. I don't think I have a plate in my collection, so I would love to win this one!!
ReplyDeleteKatherine
Thanks so much for swinging by and for the invite.. I have a couple of ways I display mine.. One is on the top of the entertainment center underneath some great faux trees. I also have one in a music bubble it sits on the small table beside the entertainment center.. You can always reach me at my blog...You are just a sweetie to do this...hugs ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteI have the Willow Tree Nativity set. I set it on top of our piano in the parlor. I love it! It is one of my favorite pieces.
ReplyDeleteYou can contact me through my blog if I am blessed enough to win!
Merry Christmas!
Hi Carrie,
ReplyDeleteYes, I have a nativity set in a creche setting on top of my entertainment ctr. in our family room for everyone to see. It came from a home party group years ago as a hostess gift. I just love having it out.
I love Nativity scenes. I have collected a few, but over the years when my children were younger, pieces were lost. Right now, my prized possession is a porcelain set, gifted to me by my dear friend, Beth, from D.C. It has the place of honor in my kitchen hutch, where we can view it all the time.
ReplyDeleteI love contemplating the Savior's birth at Christmas and letting that be the inspiration for many acts of kindness now and always.
God Bless, (appleseedacademy@yahoo.com)
Elizabeth
Are you 'show and telling' today? You should be:)

Me again-1. I choose #1, I have MIL Home Interiors set (that she worked so hard to aquire) and my grandma set (that I played with as a child), these are most special to me. I realized the tree didn't have much CHRIST on it and have been adding a CHRIST ornament each year. Its so easy to get caught up in the other stuff! Thank you for having a blog that focus on the REAL reason for the SEASON:)
ReplyDeleteHello!!!
ReplyDeleteI collect Willow Tree items and would one day love to have the Nativity set, but that will come with time. I don't have any nativities to date and pray I can win yours!!! Thank you for having this lovely give away!!!
I have a little knick-knack of a shepherd boy leaning over the baby Jesus. I bought it at a yard sale for .10 when I was seven. I guess I liked vintage things even then since the bottom says Made in Occupied Japan... LOL
ReplyDeleteI put it up every year.
Thanks for the note via private email. I appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful nativity set.
I do collect nativities, though, at this time I only have four sets. I do collect ornaments too since I do over 30 trees each year by theme. The ornaments I treasure the most is the ones made by my kids and given to me by friends.
Hi, Carrie!
ReplyDeleteI just lost my post somehow. So let me start by saying thanks for dropping by my blog, and I'm enjoying looking at yours! So many pretties to see!
I have a number of angel ornaments that I use on a tree together. There are a dozen or so small angels busts in gold, and then I have these paper Victorian angels that are embossed in gold that look like they flew off a Victorian tree. I bought these lighter weight ones because we used to get a white pine which has very wispy limbs, and they were the right weight for that type of tree. I also love angels, and I have gold crosses which go with them.
Thanks again for this lovely contest,
Sheila :-)
I collect Christmas ornaments some fancy and
ReplyDeletesome plain. I have a large set of plastic ones I
use due to the fact I have cats. Please enter
me.
I would love to win that plate based on the windows at Chartres!
ReplyDeleteI put up 2 nativities each year. One I have already shared on my blog, it is super tiny, about 2 inch high figures. I put it under my vintage table top tree. The other nativity is standard sized and I have it on my entry table. It was bought by my mother in the late 50s. I'm going to be sharing it on my blog soon.
Kijsa has Nativity Tree, by it sits her Nativity set. We both have Crismon Advent calendars made by our other sister after one my mother had when we were growing up!
ReplyDeleteHappy Saturday!
blessings,
kari & kijsa
My Favorite verse about the birth of Christ is actualy 2 verses because one is the fulfilment of prophecy of the other text. The first verse is: Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall concieve , and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.Isaiah 7:14>>>Behold , a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is , God with us. Matthew 1:23. I love prophecy and reading about the fulfilment of prophecy in the Bible!
ReplyDeleteI love the Nativity Scene and the plate. It's hard to know which one I like best. They're both wonderful.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte
Carrie- Thank you for letting me know I hadn't gone to the right post for the giveaway.Oh my, can I pick out just one verse about the Christ Story- It is all so awesome and really beyond full comprehension. I love Matt 1:23- and then there is Luke 2:8-17 concerning the shepherds- the outcasts, nobodies of their day - God chose them to bring His wonderful new of salvation- He came for all of us- not just those who had it together- but me- messed up and all!! The greatest thing about it all is it is not just a story- It is Life itself to all who will believe!!! Thank you Jesus!

Do you set up a nativity scene or have some other nativity item such as a plate, a framed print, music box, one-piece sculpture, or some other item to remind on the reason for the season? Tell a bit about it
ReplyDeleteI do have a nativity scene my daughter loves to set it up.
The plate is beautiful.
Hi Carrie,
ReplyDeleteI'm going to join in for the giveaway too! Thank you...
Carrie,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway. To answer question #1, I have several nativity scenes that I set up around the house. My favorite is a larger version that is just Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus. It looks like Lladro, but it is really just a set I got at Costco about 10 years ago. I wish there were more pieces, but I bought some similar looking angels to set around it that make them look like they are adoring the Savior. This nativity set is my favorite Christmas decoration that I set out each year.
Blessings,
Linda

My nativity set came from JC Penney sometime between 1965 and 1970. I wish I'd written the date on it. So many years ago I didn't realize the importance of having dates on things I might have nearly fifty years later.
ReplyDeleteHi Carrie, We put out 2 Nativities in our house every year. I have the Nativity set from my parents house that is 52 years old! It doesn't have any markings on it so I do not know where it came from. Jacob has his own Nativity it is smaller in scale and everything is attached. He used to put up a little tree in his bedroom and he would place his own under his tree. Now he has it on his nightstand. Hope you are having a nice day! ~ Robyn
ReplyDeleteCarrie, I'm back. I just talked to my Mom and she said she bought her nativity set (the one I now have) from Snyder's Drug Store for $3.33. Can you believe it? You can't buy the straw for the floor for that now. ~ Robyn
ReplyDeleteWe set up many nativity scenes, and there is a plate in the collection, an egg of wood that had the Mother Mary and Baby Jesus carved in the front(from Russia), a small picture frame with a brass carved nativity set inside the class...a stocking with the family embroidered on it; and even a small sent made of clay by myself and our 3yo at the time we made it...that was 13 years ago...there are several others...I'll have to post pics. His birth is definitely our most focused thing in our house at CHRISTmas time
ReplyDeleteCount me in!
ReplyDeleteI will combine two questions in one. I have a very small nativity collection started. I have three nativity scenes set up on a table in the entry way to my home. Two I received as gifts and one I purchased last years after Christmas. Secondly I do have several ornamants that I collect for my tree each year. I have a collection of bird ornament and cross ornaments as well as angel ornaments.
Giveaways are so fun!
Blessings
Robin

ReplyDeleteCarrie, I'm so excited I can hardly stand out. I have just gotten in from a Christmas party, and this is the icing on the cake! I love both of them! I would be happy with either. I don't have a creche (except a teeny tiny one), and I love plates. They are so lovely.
ReplyDeletePlease email me at my blog name at yahoo.com
Thank you SO much,
Sheila... who is very, very excited! :-)
P.S. I hope this is where I should post to you because I can't email you! My computer won't allow me to click on anyone's email address for some reason. Thanks so much!!!
