Vintage Nativity Ornaments – Jewelbrite

For today's entry I thought I’d focus on two sets of 1950's vintage nativity ornaments, made of brightly colored plastic manufactured under the name Jewelbrite by Decor.

The first set is shaped like spheres. Each has an open front with a silver color background in front of which is a three-dimensional scene. The red one has 2 Shepherds and a sheep; the blue one has 2 Wise Men; and the yellow one has Mary, Joseph & Baby Jesus in the manger.

The second set has a lantern shape and also an open front with a silver color background. The green one and the blue one each has a Wise Man with Camel; and the yellow one has Mary, Joseph & Baby Jesus in the manger.

  1. My mom had jewelbrite on her tree, looking on ebay to replace her's I found a nativity one. My ornament looks like your round one, but my people look like the people in the lantern shaped ones. Yours are in perfect condition:)

  9. Sheila -- Thank you very much for your lovely comment. I have a lot of posts drafted but find it difficult to do them because of trouble getting sharp photos. It seems that the small items are hard to capture with my digital camera. But I do enjoy writing about the collection and look forward to sharing much more.

  12. Hey and thanks for stopping by and congratulating me. Your ornaments are very cool...still, at least to me. I have a soft spot for tree ornaments. As for pictures...try taking at a slight angle and see if your camera has a "macro" setting..check the book if you still have it.

  13. I have been searching for the second set for years! What a lucky find! My grandma had them on her tree when I was a child and I have such warm memories with these. Could you please tell me where you found them? Thanks!
