Lovely Vintage Spanish Plate

It seems that during the 1970’s there was much production of nativity themed items such as porcelain plates. Many of my annual nativity collector’s plates date from the 1970’s. Today’s subject is a lovely example of this.
It is a plate from the Spanish firm, Lladro, and shows Mary with the Baby Jesus on her lap and the ox and the donkey behind them.

The soft blue border frames the raised figures on the plate. The clothing has great patterned detail.

Tha plate has all the grace and perfection that is a Lladro hallmark.

  1. I saw the antique looking white plastic, from Italy, nativity scene here on another page earlier and tried to email but it was returned. My mother bought the tiny nativity scene many years ago. She has passed on but left it to me. Baby Jesus has been missing for some time. Is there any way you can help me find a way to order Him? I would appreciate it so much. It's more sentimental value than anything. This is a gorgeous site with beautiful items you have! ruthann48 at sbc dot global dot net. THANKS!

Yah, nativity items can get a bit high on auction sites. Some day you will get lucky :-))

Nice pattern on that plate! Great to see the shifting in the molding of it. Lovely blue color too.

Thanks so much! I appreciate any help you can give me on this. I believe my Mom purchased this set when she went to Europe many years ago. I have no idea, unless sticky fingers from a little person might have taken Him from the manger years ago. Look forward to hearing from you.
