Thankful Thursday - A Time to Celebrate

I am thankful today for the Christmas season as a time to celebrate the following truths:

1. Scriptures were fulfilled
"Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign;
Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son,
and shall call his name Immanuel." Isaiah 7:14

2. Mary was willing
"I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered.
"May it be to me as you have said." Luke 1:38

3. Joseph also believed
"When Joseph woke up, he did
what the angel of the Lord had commanded him
and took Mary home as his wife." Matthew 1:24

4. Baby Jesus was born right on time
But when the time had fully come,
God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law,
to redeem those under law,
that we might receive the full rights of sons." Galatians 4:4,5

"While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,
and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son." Luke 2:6,7

5. Baby Jesus was born in the right city
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea,
to Bethlehem the town of David,
because he belonged to the house and line of David. Luke 2:4

It is good for us to keep Christmas annually to remind us of His First Coming…just as Israel kept the annual Passover feast to keep in fresh remembrance the deliverance from slavery in Egypt.

  4. I would love to have my name in the hat for this drawing. I have about a half dozen so nativity sets and put 1 in each room that is being decorated for Christmas. My favorite is one that my my painted and used in our home when I was little- baby Jesus got lost somehow and I have found a makeshift one but not quite the same style so I am still on the hunt for Jesus! You can never have too much of Him!!

    blessings
