We’ve seen blue plates from Norway, Argentina and Spain. Today’s plates are from Denmark and Germany.
My first nativity plate was from Royal Copenhagen, a porcelain company which is well-known for its long series of Christmas collector’s plates.
This 7 1/4" diameter plate is dated Christmas 1972 on front. It depicts Three Wise Men on Camels with palm trees in foreground. On back: " Østerland/ In the Desert". Signed "KL"
Here is another plate from Denmark. It depicts the "Star of Bethlehem." It is made by Bing & Grondahl and is dated 1922. It is 7" in diameter and depicts the town of Bethlehem with the star above and inscription below: "Julen Aften 1922."
The next plate is from Germany and manufactured by Kaiser Porcelain Co. in Staffelstein, Bavaria. The plate is 7 ¾” in diameter and depicts “The Three Kings.” Dated 1977, it is “8th issue in the series.” The artist is Toni Shoener. The picture shows the Three Wise Men on Camels approachin the stable with the Holy Family. The Star shines above.

ReplyDeleteI am looking for a nativity from Denmark, but have had no luck on ebay or craigslist. Does anyone have a source? It must be from Denmark, not just Scandinavia.
